‘The Bride of Frankenstein, starring Boris Karloff and Valerie Hobson, was released in Britain and France 1935. The above design by Henri Cerutti was one of several included in a pressbook, promising to brighten cinema facades. The Son of Frankenstein followed in 1939. Among numerous offshoots are Black Frankenstein, Lady Frankenstein and Rock & Roll Frankenstein, in which “a new rock star is created out of dead celebrities”. Together with many others, they are featured in Frankenstein: The First 200 Years by Christopher Frayling (Reel Art Press, £29.95)’
